CPSC Announces Recall for Vornado Air Space Heaters, Citing Fire Hazard

People who own a Vornado Air Sunny CS (Cribside) Nursery Space Heater are being urged to unplug and discontinue use of the product immediately. The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced on January 31^st, 2018 that the products could ignite nearby flammable objects or their own internal components due to a defect with their motor mount. The electric heating element within the small space heater becomes extremely hot and does not have reliable shielding, which may cause it to melt plastic and start a fire.

An estimated 5,000 Vornado Sunny CS Space Heaters were sold in the United States, with the primary retailer being reported as Bed, Bath & Beyond. If you own a small Vornado brand space heater, please take a moment to check to see if it is the product being recalled. The model number assigned by Vornado may be printed on the product as SUNNY CS EH1-0900. Serial numbers assigned to the recalled units should be locatable on the bottom of the product, printed on a silver sticker, and containing 1 and 7 as the fourth and fifth numbers in the serial code (XXX17-XXXXX for example).

Vornado is offering to replace any defective units sold with updated models that should not have the same defective heating elements.
